Providencia Volumes Up 7.1%

Company's U.S. operation contributed to results.

Brazilian nonwovens producer Companhia Providencia reported 7.1% growth in sales volume to 20,000 tons during the first quarter of 2011. For the first time, the company’s U.S. operation contributed to the results, adding 492,000 tons as it continues to ramp up.

Sales reached R$115.1 million, up 10.2%, thanks to increased sales volumes, particularly within Brazil, while income reached R$7.1 million compared to R$5.3 million the prior year.
