Ahlstrom Corp., a leader in high performance fiber-based materials, reported third quarter sales rose 20.4% to $671 million.
Building and energy segment sales rose 15.2% to $92 million. Filtration segment sales rose 24% to $122 million. Food and medical segment sales increased 18.7% to $123 million. Growth was attributed to price increases and favorable currency fluctuations. Demand for food packaging and infusion materials as well as medical nonwovens remained steady. In the home and personal care segment, sales increased 17.5% to $109 million.
For the first nine months of 2010, net sales in the filtration segment grew 24.5%, building and energy was up 17.4%, food and medical increased 13.3% and home and personal care rose 12.3%.
