Manufactured by Fiberweb, Inc. the Typar Weather Protection System has met the standards of compliance of water resistance in accordance with ASTM E 331 Test Method for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference.
This test method evaluates the resistance of exterior windows, curtain walls, skylights and doors to water penetration when water is applied under uniform static air pressure.Increasingly, state building codes are incorporating criteria requiring exterior walls to be constructed in such a manner that prevents the accumulation of water in the wall and provides a means of draining water that enters the assembly.
“As building codes become more stringent, we are seeing a growing need for proven, cost-effective building solutions that help ensure homes are not compromised by water leaks in the exterior wall assembly,” said Bob Dahl, vice president, Fiberweb Construction and Specialty Products. “For added assurance to our customers, we have rigorously tested our products to make certain the Typar Weather Protection System meets or exceeds design standards and building code criteria.”
The Typar Weather Protection System is designed to guard homes and buildings from the damaging effects of moisture and air infiltration. The complete system includes Typar HouseWrap, or StormWrap and a variety of high-performing flashing solutions and construction tape.
Collectively, the system acts as a barrier for wind-driven rain, bulk water and air that may penetrate exterior cladding. When moisture infiltrates the exterior finish, the Typar weather resistant barrier works in conjunction with the integrated flashing to guide water back to the exterior. This reduces the risk of water intrusion that can lead to mold, mildew or other indoor toxins, which can degrade indoor air quality.
