Hartmann continued its pattern of growth in the first six months of 2010, reaching sales of $1 billion, an increase of 4.9%. With sales growth of 5.2%, its three medical core segments, Wound Management, Incontinence Management and Infection Management continued to drive overall growth. In the Wound Management segment, sales revenue increased 5.6%. Growth resulted mainly from sales with post-operative dressings and the pharmacy range of first-aid products.
In the Incontinence Management segment sales rose by 5.4% compared to the period for the previous year. Product systems worn on the body were particularly well received by customers.
In the Infection Management segment, Hartmann benefitted from sales growth in custom procedure trays, with the highest growth rate coming from disposable instruments.
Consolidated operating profit was $49 million as of June 30, 2010, up 27.3% compared to the previous year.
