Dow Corning launches Syl-Off

Dow Corning Corp. has developed a new Syl-Off solvent-free release coating system that delivers long-term anchorage on unprimed polyester. The system includes a base coating, an anchorage additive, a choice of crossliners and a platinum catalyst. The systems base coating/anchorage additive combination offers adhesion to both primed and unprimed polyester films. Applications that benefit from this feature include filmic pressure-sensitive laminate and labelstock, single-and double-sided industrial polyester release film and release liners for polyester technical adhesive tapes. The new system uses thermal-cure technology. Dow Corning claims that the systems bath stability gives manufacturers more processing flexibility with less potential for waste.
