Ahlstrom's nonwoven embroidery and apparel fabrics now comply with the requirements of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) of 2008 regarding lead and phthalates. Furthermore, these grades also meet the flammability regulations (16 CFR 1610.4) promulgated pursuant to the Flammable Fabrics Act.
While the CPSIA does not address formaldehyde, Ahlstrom’s fabrics also meet the most stringent regulations for this compound, which are the Japanese Ministry Ordinance Legislation JMO112 (absorbency <0.5) and its European equivalent EDANA Method for Free Formaldehyde I 210.1-99 (< 20 ppm).
Ahlstrom is the only wetlaid fabric supplier in the market capable of fulfilling all these stringent criteria.
In 2008, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced new regulations regarding limits on lead contents and the banning of phthalates in inks used in certain products intended for children age 12 or under. Ahlstrom’s nonwoven embroidery and apparel fabrics have been tested against the set criteria, and modified accordingly, if needed.
Ahlstrom nonwoven embroidery and apparel fabrics are part of the company’s Industrial Nonwovens product line and are sold through a select group of distributors on a global basis.
