Ahlstrom To Close Two Lines In Italy

July 6, 2009

Low market demand and weak long-term profitability lead to closures.

Plans are underway at roll goods producer Ahlstrom to close its Gallarate, Italy plant as well as one production line in Cressa, Italy due to low market demand and weak long-term profitability. Contrary to the company’s original announcement in January, the Carbonate plant will not be closed. The workforce reduction at all three plants, including Carbonate, is 48 employees.

The capacity closures are in additional to the €50 million restructuring program announced in April.
