Unicharm Looks to Russia, India For Growth

New Russian plant to be complete next year.

Japan’s Unicharm has plans in place to grow its business in Russia and India, according to Nonwovens Industry Far East correspondent Kin Ohmura. In collaboration with Sweden’s SCA, the Japanese leader in baby diapers and other disposable goods is building a diaper production plant near Moscow to better serve the Russian baby care market. The plant is expected to be operational in 2010. At the same time Unicharm has established sales company to handle diaper distribution in India in September 2008 and is already looking into starting production in the country.
