Machinery and equipment supplier Fleissner has struck to supply an entire production line to an Indian company, which is a nonwovens industry newcomer. Anjani Non-wovens, a unit of Anjani Udyog Pvt Ltd, has ordered a Fleissner spunlace nonwovens line to manufacture cotton pads and wipes. Construction on the new plant, which will be located in Mundra Sez, in Gujarat, India, will be complete in January 2009.
Once the structure is complete, machinery consisting of a fiber opening line, a fiber bleaching line, an opening line and card, together with a spunlace line and dryer/winder will be installed. The facility is expected to start production in May, with an initial capacity of 20 tons a day, which will rise to 40 tons within one year Anjani Non-Wovens will initially create 140 jobs, targeting markets in Europe, Japan and the U.S.
“We are now taking a step forward in a new industry,” said Anjani founder and director Shankar Sharmar, adding that the move would give Indian manufacturers within the industry the technological motivation to act.
Fleissner's parent company, Trützschler, will start the production process by cleaning the raw cotton, with ERKO Trützschler providing the fiber opening and carding, while Fleissner provides hydroentangling and drying.
