Colbond bv, Arnhem, The Netherlands, has announced an increase of prices in Europe and Asia for its entire product range by 6-9% effective September 1, 2008. A similar step was taken in North America. The company attributes the move to the ongoing and significant rise of raw material, energy and transport costs.
“We are constantly looking for opportunities to mitigate the impact of cost increases by means of efficiency improvements and substantial achievements have been made,” said Axel Poscher, Colbond vice president. “An average cost increase of more than 10% for our core raw materials (polyamide, polyester and polypropylene) during the past 12 months, however, now forces us to pass part of the increase on to our customers.”
