Unicharm Develops Thinner Absorbent Pad

Innovation to be launched in diaper pants.

Unicharm has developed a new baby diaper with a thinner absorbent pad. The pad measures only about 1.8 mm compared to 4 mm in standard sized diapers.  The new pad, which improves wearer comfort and also lessens pack sizes, is expected to be launched in a pants type diaper in March, according to Nonwovens Industry Far East correspondent Kin Ohmura.
    
In other news, Unicharm has announced that foreign sales exceeded ¥100 billion last year, up from ¥57 billion the prior year. Significant foreign markets for the company include Asia, where sales are increasing more than 30%, and the Middle East and Europe, registering increases above 20%.
