Springs Global US Inc., Fort Mill, SC, has united with Brazil-based companies Santista Textile, Marisol S.A. and Coteminas S.A. to form the non-profit Pure Brazil Cotton Council. The council will oversee the implementation of best sustainable practices for the growth of Pure Brazil Cotton.
Led by president Nick Hahn, a cotton marketing veteran and former Cotton Incorporated president and CEO, council members have committed to offer products featuring the Pure Brazil Cotton trademark—the only cotton certified as eco-friendly throughout each stage of the production process, from planting to finishing treatment.
“Our customers and consumers are increasingly interested in natural and environmentally friendly products,” said Leslie Gillock, vice president, brand management, Springs Global. “We are proud to join Coteminas, Marisol and Santista in taking on a global leadership role in the management of an eco-friendly, sustainable cotton choice.”
Springs Global debuted the Pure Brazil Cotton brand earlier this year in the JC Penney Towel. The company plans to offer several more bed and bath products with the Pure Brazil Cotton trademark at major retailers in the U.S. later this year.
