The next-to-last chapter in the shutdown of Kimberly-Clark's Lakeview Diaper plant is just around the corner. This week 56 fewer workers will be left at the company’s Menasha plant. The trimming marks the second phase of a three-phase shutdown announced in 2006 as part of a corporate-wide streamlining. It will leave about 200 at work at the plant, most of them affiliated with Local 2-482 of the United Steelworkers. At its peak, the Lakeview plant employed 510 people.
“The closure of the plant is still on as scheduled at the end of December,” said David Dickson, spokesman for the Dallas-based consumer products company.
