P.H. Glatfelter Co., a maker of specialty papers and engineered products, will purchase two wetlaid nonwovens mills from J.R. Crompton Ltd. in a deal estimated at $86.8 million. Both facilities are located in the U.K. Glatfelt will pay $65.1 million for Crompton’s Lydney Mill in Gloucstershire and $21.7 million for its Simpson Clough Mill and other assets in Lancashire. Both sites make a range of wetlaid nonwovens that are used in tea and coffee filter papers, clean room wipes, lens tissue, dye filter paper, double-sided adhesive tape substrates and battery grid pasting tissue.
