Procter & Gamble will roll back part of this summer's U.S. price increase on diapers next month but raise prices on its premium diapers in April. Effective Dec. 5, the Cincinnati, OH-based company will lower Pampers prices 2.8% and Luvs prices 3.8%. Diaper market pundits are speculating the price decreases comes amidst increased competition from private label diaper producers but company executives would only say the changes are being made to make pricing of its most affordable products more competitive.
P&G will raise prices in its Pampers Baby Stages of Development line, including Cruisers and Swaddlers diaper, by 5.4% in April.
In other diaper news, P&G will launch a new Pampers swim pant, add a specialized top sheet to help manage wetness in its Swaddlers and Cruisers lines, and incorporate specialized absorbency for boys and girls on its Easy Ups training pants in spring 2006.
