EDANA’s Nonwovens Research Academy kicked off at INDEX 05 in Geneva last month. A newly launched initiative of EDANA, Europe’s nonwovens-related trade organization, the aim of the Academy is to provide an exchange of ideas and research results, thus encouraging the development of technical knowledge that will support the future growth of the nonwovens industry. More than 125 participants from 31 countries, representing some 93 companies, institutes and research centers took time during INDEX to hear about the latest research and development in 12 exciting areas, including raw materials, structure/function and characterization/modelling.
Following the success of this first event, EDANA will hold the next Nonwovens Research Academy hosted by CENT (European Centre for Nonwovens) April 20-21, 2006, in Tourcoing (Lille), France, with the support of IFTH -(Institut Français Textile-Habillement) in France, STFI (Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e.V) in Germany and the Nonwovens Research Group of Leeds University in the U.K. EDANA will accept abstracts for original papers to be given at the next academy until November 14.
