Saurer has acquired a 100% stake in Kortec GmbH, a supplier of festooning machinery for the nonwovens industry. Kortec will be merged into Neumag, which manages Sauer's nonwovens business. Kortec offers a wide range of festooning machine types and engineering services for nonwoven and airlaid producers as well as for manufacturers of diapers, sanitary pads and tampons. Its general manager and main owner Roberto Rahn as well as other technical members of the Kortec team will be integrated into the Neumag organization. Mr. Rahn will continue to be responsible for festooning technology and related businesses.
The acquisition of Kortec is part of Saurer's strategy for developing a nonwoven technology platform and is in line with the recent acquisitions of Ason (Spunbond), M&J Fibretech (Airlaid) and Autefa (Automation/Cross-lappers).
