Brazilian nonwovens producer Fitesa will invest in a new spunmelt line with capacity of 15,000 tons per year. The line will be installed in the company’s site in Gravataí, Brazil and is expected to start up in second half 2006. The line will be designed to manufacture hygienic disposable items such as topsheets and leg cuffs for disposable diapers, medical fabrics and other specialty applications It will be a multiple beam state-of-the-art Reicofil 4 with microdenier features that will allow the line to be upgraded at a later stage according to new market requirements. The capacity of the new Reicofil line is targeted to serve local as well Mercosur markets but will also meet growing demands of the Americas for advanced hygienic disposable fabrics, according to company executives.
Fitesa is a leading company in polypropylene nonwovens and staple fibers in South America. It has a nameplate capacity of 22,000 tons per year of nonwovens in its two manufacturing plants in Brazil. Approximately 22% of its sales come from exports.
