Two scientists are joining the staff of Cherney Microbiological Services. The firm is one of the few contract laboratories specializing in microbiological testing and technical support for companies manufacturing dairy, paper, meat, vegetable, cosmetic, personal care and industrial cleaning products. Cherney Microbiological is also one of only five businesses in Northeast Wisconsin now certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
Mary Boeselager has joined the firm as quality systems manager and is formalizing and documenting laboratory standards and processes to prepare for ISO certification. Ms. Boeselager has more than 17 years of microbiology experience in clinical and industrial applications and has worked in quality system development and implementation.
Kirk Jansen joins the firm as lead chemist. Mr. Jansen most recently was a chemist at PPD in Middleton, WI, a pharmaceutical contract research firm. He will work with Cherney clients to review their testing needs and expand the types of tests offered to include testing for water activity in products and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), a powerful analytical technique that can be used to separate and detect multiple compounds simultaneously.
