Janet Reed has joined Cotton Incorporated in the new position of associate director of Environmental Research, reporting to Kater Hake, vice president of Agricultural Research. At Cotton Incorporated, Ms. Reed will be the focal point for the Environmental Research program and will be charged with setting the record straight on cotton's environmental impact. In doing so, she will assess all phases of cotton production and processing and identify research opportunities that could benefit the bottom line for cotton. She will also provide scientific outreach to retailers and represent the cotton production/manufacturing industry to the public at large.

"Janet Reed shares our ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental improvement," Berrye Worsham, president and CEO of Cotton Incorporated, observed. "Cotton Incorporated has researched, developed and implemented practices to help cotton growers improve the quantity and quality of their yields, while decreasing their reliance on pesticides, energy and irrigation. This work continues today, and Ms. Reed will play an important role in furthering our research into how best to make the production of cotton truly sustainable."
