In an effort to streamline the company and make it more cost effective, Ahlstrom Corporation has flattened its operative organization to be more customer-driven. At the same time, three new members will join the corporate executive team from within the company. As of January 1, 2005, the FiberComposites division of Ahlstrom will be divided into three new business areas: Nonwovens, Filtration Materials and Glass Nonwovens.
Nonwovens will be led by Claudio Ermondi, Filtration Materials by Randal Davis and Glass Nonwovens by Tommi Björnman. They will be officially appointed in January 2005. Current executive team member Christer Pihl, senior vice president of innovation, will retire in January 2005.
Moving forward, Ahlstrom’s external reporting will be based on the two businesses (FiberComposites and Specialty Papers) instead of the earlier three divisions (FiberComposites, Specialty Papers and Filtration). Ahlstrom expects the new operating model to provide a considerable competitive edge as well as more direct contact between the customer and the company.
