Parents have a plethora of choices when it comes to baby wipes for their little ones. Will it be the major brands, Pampers or Huggies? Or the eco-friendly Seventh Generation and Honest? How about the money-saving store brands? Then they get to choose from fragrance, unscented, or sensitive options in many cases.
When my little guy was born two years ago, I did my fair share of experimenting with wipes, and finally settled on Target’s up & up wipes, unscented. Lucky for me, and my son, he’s never had chronic diaper rash, so it didn’t take long for me to find diapers or wipes that worked for him, but things were quite the opposite for my nephew who is eight weeks younger.
After months and months of diaper rash coming and going for my nephew, and my sister-in-law experimenting with every diaper and wipe on the market, she finally came across WaterWipes...and never looked back. These are the only wipes that have prevented diaper rash on her son.
WaterWipes are saturated with just two ingredients, 99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract, which the maker, Irish Breeze Limited, says is “one of nature’s anti-microbial agents.”
And even though my son hasn’t had any diaper rash issues with the wipes I have been using, I was intrigued by WaterWipes and tried them out.
With the very first wipe on my son I noticed they were different. They didn’t seem as smooth as other wipes while wiping since there aren’t any lotions, moisturizers or other soothing ingredients in them. This didn’t bother me (or him), but it was noticeable. And even though the wiping felt different, they cleaned just as thoroughly as a normal wipe would.
At $3.99 for 60 wipes they’re a bit pricey compared to the Target up & up brand ($1.79 for 72 wipes) or Pampers Sensitive ($1.97 for 54 wipes), but for parents who prefer minimal ingredients in wipes, or for their children who have extra sensitive skin, WaterWipes seem like a great option.
