Above: Vistamaxx specialty elastomers are compatible with a wide variety of polymers and can improve not only the elasticity but the flexibility and adhesion when compared to existing nonwoven products
Earning the confidence of nonwovens producers begins with innovative polymer solutions. For more than 40 years, ExxonMobil Chemical has provided polymer solutions that perform for nonwovens producers and their customers.

To meet customers’ varied nonwovens needs, ExxonMobil Chemical offers a wide range of polymer products from conventional and metallocene polypropylene products to the latest in specialty elastomers. ExxonMobil Chemical has a long history of supporting nonwovens producers with product grades designed for the nonwovens industry. Quality products are just the beginning.

Unmatched global supply capabilities, manufacturing excellence and technical expertise complement a full product portfolio for nonwovens producers. This combination enables nonwovens producers around the world to rely on ExxonMobil Chemical to help improve their existing applications and develop new products.

Nonwovens research is supported by specialized equipment, including molecular modeling and automated systems for tailoring molecules and gauging how catalysts perform; a materials characterization lab for tracking trace elements and examining the molecular and surface structure of fibers; and fiber-spinning and fabric-testing equipment.

ExxonMobil polypropylene polymers provide the consistent, reliable performance needed for today’s spunbond and meltblown processes. The latest innovation is ExxonMobil SFT-315 polypropylene for soft nonwovens. This innovation helps fabric producers deliver a softer product without compromising fabric properties or production rates.

Metallocene-catalyzed Achieve™ polypropylene polymers are consistent and uniform, promoting spunmelt processing advantages such as reduced smoke and wax, compared with conventional polypropylene products. Commercialized in 1995, Achieve polymers were the industry’s first metallocene-catalyzed polypropylene products.

Another industry first, Vistamaxx™ specialty elastomers offer a new dimension of capabilities to help a broad range of customers benefit from a unique combination of greater elasticity, adhesion, strength, and flexibility in their products not seen in conventional elastomers. Today, Vistamaxx grades specifically designed to help improve the qualities of fabrics produced using both meltblown and spunbond processes are available in commercial quantities.

These core products for nonwovens producers are complemented by Escorez™ tackifier resins for creating enhanced high-performance adhesive solutions. Escorez 5000 tackifiers are very light in color, low in odor and stable during both the manufacturing process and product use by consumers.

ExxonMobil and Exceed™ polyethylenes also support nonwovens producers with a broad product slate that can be used for lamination film, packaging, disposable diapers, adult incontinence, and feminine hygiene articles. From polypropylenes to adhesives, ExxonMobil Chemical’s technologists listen to customers’ processing and product needs, then apply their expertise in polymer design to provide materials that deliver solutions.  Nonwovens producers seeking a broad range of solutions from a supplier with a track record of industry firsts and a long-term commitment to the nonwovens industry can count on ExxonMobil Chemical.
